It’s April, my birth month, the time of year when I am most conscious of the aging process. I spend time, energy and money on supporting the way I look and feel, but it is a focus rather than a worry. Now officially in the middle of my life, I do not aspire to look like a woman who is just starting out. I’ll take a little wrinkle on the chin – or indeed around my eyes and I know that I have to move a little more and eat a little less to maintain my ideal weight. I'm completely relaxed about looking older as long as I continue to look good. And that is good for me, not good for a super model who is naturally lean and spends hours everyday on maintenance. I encourage every woman to stop comparing themselves to others but if absolutely necessary, please, please compare yourself to your neighbour, or your colleague or someone within the same decade and the same universe.
My Lust of the Month is a frozen treat that doesn’t taste anything like ice-cream but will increase your immune system, brighten your mood and strengthen your hair – this is delayed gratification, but the end results are so much sweeter. This Months Gorgeous Girl knows a thing or two about looking good. With kids, a fabulous boutique in West Hollywood and more years then you would believe possible under her tiny little belt Trang Phung has managed to slice 15 years off her face without going anywhere near a sharp instrument. This Months Gorgeous Treat is more of the anti-aging, brain boosting, Omega 3 rich fish and supplements from Vital Choice.
I am of course a beauty junkie, it is both my business and my pleasure but this month I wanted to commit to an entire skin care range and report any tangible results so I have been getting serious with Environ, I’ve mentioned this line before, they are a bit grown-up – only available through qualified aestheticians and doctors offices, which is far more comforting than it is inconvenient. It was also developed by a doctor specializing in skin cancer in South Africa and it really is designed to deal with every skin type, tone and problem. The packaging is simple but sufficiently stylish and the price point takes the line into the luxury end of the market – but only just. I headed straight for the advanced Ionzyme collection, these products are packed with high levels of vitamins A and C, this range is best suited to normal and dry or mature skin types that need or want a little extra care. It is very active and although well tolerated by sensitive skin, it's important to wear an SPF during the day.
When people compliment me on my complexion I always say it’s nurture over nature, I was born with Eczema which hung around into my late teens and it took another decade of tender loving care to achieve really healthy looking skin so I’m confident that most skin problems can be managed with time and attention. Now, err, quite a few years on and further boosted by 6 weeks of religious application of Environ my skin is better than ever, the very fine lines on my forehead have been softened by The Focus Frown Serum, the results are not dramatic but they are noticeable, this is not Botox but it is a non, invasive, relatively inexpensive and safe way of toning down the wrinkles. My face seems a little
tighter, and plumper thanks to the hyaluronic acid in the Hydrating Serum and the C-Quence Moisturizer that I mixed with a little extra vitamin C cream has given me slightly more even toned, hydrated, dewy looking skin.

Remember to exfoliate, so that whatever products you choose don’t just sit on your skin. I’ve been using my Clarisonic Complexion Brush three times a week and suddenly age takes on new meaning!
