Sophie Paget Steavenson knows that real beauty comes with the joy of giving back and she has found a way of doing so whilst looking gorgeous in her own line of ethical swimwear.
I run my own ethical Beachwear label called Beach Candy Beach Candy working mainly with an organisation in Mumbai that empowers people living in the slums by teaching them various skills to support themselves and their families. As it’s so hot and sweaty out here I have to be quite careful about finding the right make-up which allows my skin to breathe, as if not it usually slides down my face within minutes! I spend a lot of time on the beach as I’m lucky enough to live near Goa. I know the sun gets bad press about ageing and damaging ones skin but I do think that in small doses it gives you a natural glow that no make-up can match. The sun cream that I wear is either Dr Hauschka or Green People. I was trained as a Homeopath so I am very into cosmetics with no (or as little as possible) nasty chemicals. I wear liquid eyeliner and mascara both from Dr Hauschka and for my face, Bare Minerals MATTE – perfect for covering up shiny bits. As we all know, eating healthily and getting enough sleep are crucial to having glowing gorgeous skin. However this is easier said than done so for the times when I can’t do this I cake my face in Calendula cream. Not only can it be used as a great moisturiser but Calendula also has incredible healing effects.
