Gorgeous Treat

Lisa Comfort  is a woman on a mission to save the dying art of dress making inspiring women all over London to create there own gorgeous creations.

 
 

“I fell in love with sewing aged 11 when I made my first skirt. A year later my parents gave me a sewing machine and I have never looked back since.
Despite being teased for my “uncool” hobby, I persevered and carried on sewing. I studied dressmaking and tailoring in Italy before going on to do Surface Textiles and Fashion at the London College of Fashion.  I worked for British designer Bruce Oldfield and then bridal couture designer Phillipa Lepley.
I set up Sew Over It in a response to the growing feeling that sewing was becoming a lost skill. I hope that I can pass on my passion for sewing through Sew Over It and encourage more people in London to pick up a needle and thread!

I recently had a Dermalogica facial and now I am converted so, I use Ultra calming cleanser every night followed by my multi active toner. For moisturising I use Bobbi Brown eye cream and boots protect and perfect serum. For daytime I always make sure my moisturiser has spf 15.

Lip gloss has been a game changer, now even if I am bare faced and make-up free I must have super moist lips and if I want to keep it clean I want Lush Lips from Super by Dr Nicholas Perricone, it's full of coconut goodneess and smells divine - I love it!

 

September Guide

September is all about change, the weather, our state of mind and so often our skin.  With cooler weather, comes cooler fashion and this season we’ll be smartening up our act with a nod to forties glamour, it’s all wool pencil skirts silk skirts and lipstick that reminds you of your parents big nights out.  Our Gorgeous Girl has found therapy in a needle and thread and London’s fashionistas are signing up to learn how to create their own couture.  This months Gorgeous Treat is a boost for beauties biggest trend and my Lust of the Month is  my new favourite lip balm that’s simply super!

One of my favourite designers is the wonderfully talented Maria Grachvogel whose creations embody the structure of masculine tailoring and the feminine softness of  beautiful draping and rich fabric.  She embodies the spirit of the season with a confident, grown-up clothes that are somehow extremely comfortable and go perfectly with the new deep Muscate Lip by Nars

 

This is the second year in a row that September is re defined - it is not only about hemlines going down and glamour going up but about women embracing the purest, sense of beautiful. The second annual WIE symposium will be even bigger and better than last year.  Sarah Brown, Donna Karan and Arianna Huffington come together again to host a formidable group of women from Iman to Christy Turlington who will come together to discuss the several orders of the day. The mission - to inform and inspire, to pose questions, create solutions and to vision a world more feminine, where battles are not fought in minds not fields and where the health and safety of all is everyone's concern.  If you can't be there this year, mark your calenders for next you'll leave renewed and inspired and feeling utterly gorgeous.
