Happy New You! It’s a new day, a new dawn and I’m feeling good. Well, ok my skin may need a bit of a boost and my liver is crying out for a detox but I’m excited about the opportunity to wipe the slate and turn a page.
My Lust of the Month is a little bottle of herbal goodness that will clean you out and boost you up. Our Gorgeous Girl is the classical pianist turned Yoga Guru whose teachings have transformed some of the worlds most famous bodies and souls and this months Gorgeous Treat is a complimentary consultation with me that will help kick start your journey to whole health.
Forget about the excess alcohol and the unnecessary sugar, that was then and this is now. January is the perfect time to focus on your health and well-being but don’t set yourself up for a fall, you can’t fix everything, or give up everything you love all at once. What we can all do, is add some good stuff, good food, good movement and good products will crowd at the bad and help you to look great.
If you have not exercised in the last year than think twice before joining a gym, find a class that interests you – from the Bar to the Power Plate if you love it, buy the shortest series available, mark the dates in your diary and commit to you health in the way that you would a business meeting or your family – show up!
If exercise is a dirty word then just move somewhere somehow - stand or stretch during commercial breaks, get up from your desk every 30 minutes and do a couple of laps around the office, it all adds up to a better feeling, better looking body.
When it comes to the diet, it may be really tough to give up French fries but is it really so difficult to add a handful of Chia seeds in water or juice 30 minutes before those fries? Not only will you eat less but you will also metabolise the fat more efficiently. You may not want to give up your daily cup of coffee, (nor should you if it is organic and a cup as apposed to 6!) but you can ensure that you precede it with a glass of pure water and preferably a meal. Coffee was meant to be a digestive, not a wake up call. Add more whole foods, think of white bread and pasta as you would dessert – not for everyday consumption and always, always eat more greens.
Cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising is beauty 101 for G to G readers but if that is the extent of your routine, start to layer your skin care like your clothes this winter. Adding serums and treatments that deal with your biggest complexion concerns will take your skin from good to great because sometimes more really is more!
Here’s to a gorgeous New Year!
